Moonbow’s COVID Safety Practices
Guided by disability justice principles and our lived experiences, Moonbow continues to practice airborne virus safety to help keep our communities safe from acute, chronic, and post-viral illnesses, whether that be COVID, H5N1, the flu, and other viruses. We hope by sharing our practices that we can gather with our community and partners while protecting ourselves, each other, and those who are most vulnerable. We commit to continually re-assessing and adjusting our COVID Safety Practices as the pandemic continues. We welcome any questions about our policies.
For in-person events, both indoors and outdoors, Moonbow adheres to the following guidelines:
N95 and KN95 masks are required and offered at the entrance of the event. If additional accessibility is needed (i.e. you have challenges with wearing a mask), please contact Moonbow.
Testing is encouraged and for some Moonbow events may be required. If testing is required, we ask that you do so on the day of the event and communicate your test result to a Moonbow team member. If your test result is positive or if you have any cold-, flu-, or new allergy-like symptoms, please stay home. Free COVID rapid tests will be available at the entrance of the event.
If the event includes food and drinks or if water and snack breaks are needed, we ask that attendees eat and drink outdoors. Social distancing is encouraged.
Everyone’s risk tolerance at an event will differ. We encourage checking in with folks and asking specific questions, such as:
Can I give you a hug?
Does this distance feel safe?
Would you like to move to a less crowded area?
When inviting Moonbow to in-person events, we kindly ask partners to provide their COVID precautions as part of your invitation based on the questions below. This will help us assess our risk tolerance when making a decision on attending. If a Moonbow member feels that certain practices aren’t consistent with their needs while attending an event, we may decide to pull ourselves out of the event space.
Will there be mandatory masking for all attendees, including event staff?
What vaccine and booster requirements will be in place for attendees?
Will there be any testing protocol before or after the event?
If someone tests positive post-event, how will this be communicated to other attendees?
Will there be a limiting the number of attendees based on capacity of the space, particularly indoors? About how many attendees are expected?
If taking place indoors, will there be ventilation and/or air filters?
What COVID guidelines will be provided to attendees prior to registration/event?
